Pressure Dependence of Flux Dynamics in Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+δ

چکیده
An important problem in high temperature superconductivity is that of understanding, and ultimately controlling, fluxoid motion. Results are presented in this paper which were obtained using a new technique for measuring the pressure dependence of the transition to superconductivity in a diamond-anvil cell. By monitoring the third harmonic of the acsusceptibility, we observe the onset of irreversible flux motion. This, in turn, enables us to study the effects of pressure on flux motion. Pressure changes the atomic interplanar spacing, and hence the interplanar coupling, without significantly altering the intraplanar superconductivity. Therefore we are able to separate the effects of coupling from other properties that also might affect the flux motion, such as superconducting condensate density, anisotropy, and pinning. Our results directly show the relationship between lattice spacing and the irreversibility line in Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+δ. Mixed state microwave resistivity of cuprate superconductors
We present a compared experimental investigation of the (a, b) plane vortex-state complex resistivity at 48 GHz in YBa2Cu3O7−δ, SmBa2Cu3O7−δ and Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+x. In YBa2Cu3O7−δ and SmBa2Cu3O7−δ the field dependence of the response can be consistently described by a combination of flux flow and strong pair breaking due to the presence of lines of nodes in the gap. In Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+x, by contrast...
متن کاملPressure Dependence of the Irreversibility Line in Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+ : Role of Anisotropy in Flux-Line Formation
One of the important problems of high-temperature superconductivity is to understand and ultimately to control uxoid motion. Here we present data on the pressure dependence of the irreversibility line measured up to 2.5 GPa. We observe that the application of pressure changes the interplanar coupling by decreasing the c-axis length, without signi cantly disturbing the intraplanar superconductiv...

Four regimes of vortex motion were identified in the magnetoresistance of Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+δ single crystals: (1) thermally activated flux flow (TAFF) in samples with surface defects caused by thermal annealing; (2) TAFF-like plastic motion of highly entangled vortex liquid at low temperatures, with Upl ∼ (1− T/Tc)/H ; (3) pure free flux flow above the region of (2) in clean and optimally doped sa...
متن کاملLinear and Field-Independent Relation between Vortex Core State Energy and Gap in Bi2Sr2CaCu2O81d
We present a scanning tunneling spectroscopy study on quasiparticle states in vortex cores in Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+δ. The energy of the observed vortex core states shows an approximately linear scaling with the superconducting gap in the region just outside the core. This clearly distinguishes them from conventional localized core states and is a signature of the mechanism responsible for their discre...
متن کاملPressure Dependence of Flux Dynamics in High Temperature Superconductors
One of the important problems of high-temperature superconductivity is to understand and ultimately to control uxoid motion. We will describe a new technique for measuring the pressure dependence of Tc in a diamond anvil cell by the third harmonic of the ac susceptibility. It requires no background subtraction and allows the use of gasket materials made from hardened steels. More signi cantly, ...
